Diesel eases to $6.292 a gallon in the week of November 2

The U.S. Energy Information Administration's weekly survey, released November 3, 2026, put the national average on-highway diesel price at $6.292 a gallon for the week of November 2, down 6.0 cents from $6.352 the week before. Regular gasoline averaged $4.153, down 11.6 cents. Both series include taxes, and the figures are weekly survey estimates for the observation date, not live prices at any individual station.

Regional picture

Every region EIA tracks posted a lower diesel price that week. California remained the most expensive at $8.076, down 7.9 cents, and the Lower Atlantic was cheapest at $5.814. The West Coast (PADD 5) averaged $7.272 and the Midwest $6.402, down 7.8 cents. Against a year earlier, the national diesel average is up $2.539 a gallon.

What it means for operators

Haul Press takeaway: a 6-cent weekly decline is a reason to refresh a trip calculation, not a reason to assume every fuel stop or freight contract got cheaper by the same amount. The national average remains above its October 5 level, and regional spreads — $1.458 between the West Coast and the Lower Atlantic — still matter more than the headline number on most routes. EIA's next weekly release is scheduled for November 10, 2026.
